Until the 1880s, how were news stories illustrated?
They were published from engravings or woodcuts.

It means dark chamber and it is a optical device that projects an image of its surroundings onto a screen.

Daguerre. The process was good and it became an instant craze, it was expensive and the image could no be duplicated.

William Fox Talbot. An unlimited amount of duplicates could be made, the quality was not very good.

Frederick Scott Archer. The process was faster, the cost was less than the previous processes, after being wet they immediately had to be exposed to light.

Richard Maddox. Used gelatin instead of glass, and we use gelatin today.

He is remembered for making photography accessible to all and invented roll film, Eastman Kodak Company.

He paved the way for motion picture photography and is known for his work using multiple cameras to capture motion.

A device that projected a series of images in successive phases of motion.

How did Muybridge settle the debate and photograph a horse in motion? In 1880s, the development of the motion picture camera allowed this?
He experimented and used a large series of large cameras placed in a line, each being triggered by a thread as a horse passed by. The development of motion picture allowed individual images to be captured and stored on a single film reel.
